Art Center Brutus | We’re All Ruined
Rotterdam | January 2024
By creating a reference point of a familiar organic body that we are used to seeing decay, these wood collages ask the viewer to put into perspective their own impermanence. Through the use of collage and reconstruction into a new form, the composition collapses together individual life stories and life spans by piecing them together into a fragmented composition that holds a collective time. Connecting the shapes of the composition to the lines of the woodworm-inspired carving grounds how nature will always leave a narrative of time in the ruins of our organic bodies.

Using the affect of the light from sunset further symbolizes for the viewer a passage of time, a feeling of impermanence, and a moment of transition and change.
